Congratulations to FF Matt Simpson for graduating from the Arkansas Fire Training Academy this morning.
We would like to thank Arkansas Forestry Division, Garland County Sheriff's Office, LifeNet Inc., and Garland County 911 Emergency Communications Center for all the help they provided today during a brush fire that threatened 6 homes and multiple apartments. 15 of your Lake Hamilton Firefighters with six apparatus responded and were able to gain control of the fire with the help of 2 dozers and a single-engine air tanker (SEAT) from the Arkansas Forestry Division. Smoke may be seen in the area for several days as the fire burns itself out. The fire is inside the fire lines the dozers created. There were no injuries reported and no homes were damaged.
This is the second fire this weekend your Firefighters have responded to that was started by juveniles playing with lighters, matches, or fire. Please talk to your children about how dangerous this is!
Both Garland County and Hot Spring County are under burn bans and the entire state is under a High Fire Danger. Please do not burn!
This Saturday, Lake Hamilton Firefighter Sam Wills, along with dozens of other firefighters from around the State, participated in the First Annual Arkansas Fallen Firefighters' Memorial Stair Climb. The event serves as a tribute to Arkansas firefighters who lost their lives in the performance of, or as the result of, their fire service. FF Wills performed the Climb in honor and memory of Lake Hamilton Fire Chief Matt Simpson, who passed away from cancer in 2014.
Firefighter Sam Wills graduated from the Arkansas Fire Training Academy this morning. Lake Hamilton Fire Department is dedicated to advancing our knowledge and education in our craft. Congratulations Firefighter Wills!
